For any of the development programmes planners as well as various development
authorities and officials require a digital database which has to be normally generated by
using Geomatic Technology. This is multifaceted with spatial dimensions, while non-
spatial information is to be drawn from various governmental and non-governmental
departments. Keeping these problems in view, an attempt has been made to prepare a
Digital Atlas at various administrative levels with important objectives that include the
problem based solutions. Atlas aims to illustrate map with different thematic Layers.
Maps in the Digital format help to access information easily. Digital atlas can provide the
easy and modern way to prepare and use different thematic maps. Digital Atlas with
number of layers is easy to maintain and it can help to perform various analyses. Spatial
planners who require a digital database can generate the required one more easily and
efficiently by using Geomatic Technology.
Aims and Objectives
The present project work thus has been aimed to prepare a Digital Atlas for the area under
study using Geomatic technology initiated with the following objectives:
To identify the indicators of development for the study area.
To prepare the digital maps showing the significance of the indicators.
To examine software programme suitable for the presentation of digital atlas
map plates.
To develop suitable tools for using the atlas by decision-makers.
To impart training for executives and researchers and others who could use
this atlas in the preparation of analytical maps for developmental activities
