DEPARTMENT OF SOLAR ENERGY |
About Research
The Department Of Solar Energy is involved in research activities pertaining to solar photovoltaic material study. Laboratory scale thin film solar cells are fabricated and characterized using Solar simulator in our Department Lab. The solar cells are characterized both at normal illumination and also under concentrating conditions. This Department also concentrating on Solar Thermal applications like Solar water heater, Solar drying, development of selective coating for solar thermal devices.

Regional Test Centre (Solar Thermal)
The Regional Test Centre (Solar Thermal) sponsored by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Government of India was established as an integral part of the School of Energy, Environment and Natural Resources in the year 1992. It is currently functioning under the Department of Solar Energy of the School of Energy, Environment and Natural Resources of our University.
This Centre is the certifying authority of the Government of India for all solar thermal products (as per IS 12933, IS 13429 and Ministry of New and Renewable Energy specifications) being manufactured by various companies all over India. The performance of the Centre, as per the letter of Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, has been outstanding as far as concerned to the number of samples being tested every year. This centre is recognized by Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) and National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL)
