Profile

         Entrepreneurship is the art of starting a business, basically a startup company offering creative product, process or service. “Entrepreneurship Programmes” are undertaken by the department to create entrepreneurial mindset among the students for becoming an entrepreneur in the future. The Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (CED) has been established since 1990 and has become a part of the Department of Entrepreneurship Studies in 1991 - 92.

        Entrepreneurship Cum Skill Development Centre (ECSDC) has been established since 6th April 2013. The Programmes were conducted in collaboration with NGO’s like FEDCROT (Formation Education Development Centre for Rural organization and Training. The programmes included the end programme practice tests. The programme content has been designed taking into account the target audience and the requirements of the industry. The beneficiaries belong to various underprivileged sections of the society, women contributing to about 70% of the total beneficiaries.

         As a sequence, Entrepreneurship Development and Innovation Institute (EDII), Government of Tamil Nadu has approved to start its EDII Hub at Madurai Kamaraj University on 19.09.2019 with futuristic vision of enriching Entrepreneurial Quality Training Programme for university and its affiliated college students were convened. Furthermore, an FDP (Faculty Development Programme) were convened by EDII – Hub MKU to inculcate the entrepreneurial quality among the faculties.
