Brief Profile of the Department

Department of Communication:
Department of Communication, was established in the year of 1991, offers M.Sc., Visual Communication from the academic year 2019-20. Department of Communication is an inter-disciplinary in nature, which promotes inter-disciplinary research among the broader areas of Media and Communication. The Department has been offering M.Phil. in Media and Communication since 2018-19 and Ph.D. in Full-Time and Part-Time modes in Mass Communication and Journalism. Programme Specific Objectives of M.Sc., Visual Communication, enable the students by imparting the Communication Knowledge and Skills in Media and Communication, especially in Visual Communication for successful career by protecting Values of Social and Democracy of our Society. The Programme Specific Outcomes clearly define that the foundational knowledge and skills will be improved and academic excellence par with industrial standards will be built for developing Professional expertise in the Media and Communication discipline especially in Visual Communication. The Department imparts knowledge and formulate pedagogical approach to develop innovative thinking among students, through active teaching-learning methods at classroom, field, industry and online through its Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) to cater the manpower needs in electronic, online, print and various other media platforms. The courses have academic and practical approaches in the fields of Photography, Videography, Writing, Editing, Documentary and Short film making, in order to offer knowledge and skill to improve the ability to practice independently, increase the employability and promote entrepreneurship among students. The Department is fully equipped with High-Speed Fibre-Optic Internet Connectivity, Free Wi-Fi, Smart Class Rooms with latest projector facilities, Multimedia Lab, Library, DSLR, supporting equipment and video cameras in order to visioning the future.
