The Agricultural Land use change of manjalar minor basin lying in Theni and
Dindigul district is studied by using the Image classification method. The Relief,
Drainge, Satellite image and Land use / land cover map from the digital atlas are used
for analysis. The agricultural land use are classified into three classes namely
cropland, plantation and fallow land. The agricultural Land use for 1990 and 2006 is
compared and the differences are calculated. The crop land area in 1990 is 67.4 Sq.
Km, and in 2006 it is 62.02Sq.Km, Plantation area in 1990 is 50.6 Sq.km, and in
2006 is 28.7 Sq.km. Fallow land area in 1990 is 19.8 Sq.km and in 2006 it is 29.3
Sq.km.

The spatial disparity of market facility available in Oddanchatram block of
Dindigul district is identified using the thematic maps such as transport facility, total
population and market facility. Puliyamarathukottai which has the total population of
3,949 persons, Ambilikai which has the total population of 2,791 persons and
Sindalavadampatti which has the total population of 2,210 persons are the villages
having no market facility. If new markets are established in these villages people will
be benifited in selling the local cultivable vegetables. The transport facility is also
highly accessible, so that these blocks can also utilize the intra market facility. The
major transport line National Highway 209, 45 and state highway 37 both integrate
the adjoining district namely Coimbatore in the west Trichy in the east, Erode in the
north and Madurai in the south. All these district are well served with regard to whole
sale vegetable market of Oddanchatram.

The Thematic map layer from Digital Atlas such as transport facility, and
settlements is used to create highway accessibility for Pudukkottai district. The buffer
layer is created for the National highway and State Highway. The highways passing
through the district are NH210, SH 26, 27, 29. The 5km buffer and 10 km buffer is
created for the highways using the Analysis tool in Arc tool option in Arc GIS. The
Highway accessibility is classified as High Moderate and Low. The distance along the
highway less than 5km are high accessible, and the distance between 5 to 10 km are
