EXTENSION ACTIVITIES

A Medical camp was organized in collaboration with Velammal Medical College Hospital and Research Centre for Madurai Kamaraj University Public School Children at Madurai Kamaraj University Mu.Va. Hall, August 18, 2017 with the objective of providing free medical examination/checkup for the MKU Public School children.

Organized Health Care program on Maternal Health and Nutrition – Health Communication Campaigns at Melakkal Village, Madurai District on 6th November 2009 in co-ordination with the Vadamalayan Hospitals , Madurai. The campaign included varieties of activities like skit, song and puppet show.The beneficiaries of this programme were 60 village persons.

Advocacy program on Health Care for Women in Vedarpuliyankulam Village, Madurai District on 11th December 2009. The co-organizer of the program was Vadamalayan Hospitals, Madurai. The program emphasized three components of women’s health namely, Maternity Health, Personal Hygiene and Nutrition.

Free Eye Screening Camp was organized by the Women’s Studies Centre of Madurai Kamaraj University in association with Suji Health Care Services, Madurai and Dr. Agarwal Eye Hospital, Madurai on 09.10.2018 at Palkalai Nagar Middle School, Palkalai Nagar, Madurai.

The health camp was jointly organized by Women’s Studies Centre, Madurai Kamaraj University and Madurai Meenakshi Mission Hospital on 5th September, 2014. The Medical Camp was organised with the objective of providing free medical examination/checkup, provide counseling and preventive measures on Diabetics, Blood Pressure, Cardiac & other ailments and create awareness on the need of personal hygiene in prevention of disabling diseases. Nearly 480 patients were benefited through this camp. Students / Staffs from the Madurai Kamaraj University and the people from villages nearby the University were participated and benefited through the medical camp.

A Medical Camp was organised by the Women’s Studies Centre of Madurai Kamaraj University in association with Madurai Velammal Medical College Hospital & Research Institute on 18.08.2017 at Mu.Va Hall, Madurai Kamaraj University, Palkalai Nagar, Madurai for the students of MKU Public School, Madurai. The Medical Camp was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. P.P. Chellathurai, Vice- Chancellor, Madurai Kamaraj University, by lighting Kuthuvilakku and started at 10.30 a.m. Prof. Dr. V. Chinnaiah, Registrar i/c was also present on this occasion. Mr. Murugesan, Director, Suji Health Care Services, Team of Doctors, team of Paramedical staff and Pharmacists from VMCH(Madurai Velammal Medical College Hospital & Research Institute) were present.

Participated in the Mega Arts & Languages Exhibition during March 27th & 28th 2018 at Madurai Kamaraj University, Palkalai Nagar, Madurai – 625 021.
