Madurai Kamaraj University started a unique Evening College on the 1st December 1969 in its பண்பாளர் P.T.R. பழனிவேல்ராஜன் வளாகம் situated opposite to Pandiyan Hotel and Circuit House on Alagarkoil Road, Madurai-2. The concept of Evening College was evolved particularly for the benefit of employed / self-employed aspirants. From its inception, the college catered to the educational needs of lakhs and lakhs of candidates who were not able to undergo higher studies through regular mode of education in and around Madurai. The Evening College has been existing for its determined aim of providing higher education to the working people who could not pursue their studies in regular stream. As such, the yeomen services of the evening college continued up to 2012. The sudden closure of Evening College had shut down the opportunity of many aspirants’ desire to study UG and PG/M.Phil courses.
