 The Institute of Correspondence Course & Continuing Education (ICC&CE) was Started.

1976

 Introduced PG courses.

1979

 Introduced B.Ed. and other professional courses.

1993

 Inauguration of the first overseas centre of MKU in Kuwait by Prof. Col.Dr.MDK Kuthalingam
and He introduced MCA, MBA, PG in Tourism & Development and M.Phil courses.

1996

 Renamed as Directorate of Distance Education (DDE)

2003

 Introduced M.Sc. courses (Physics & Chemistry).

2013

 Introduced 79 new Courses
(Total courses : 160 / UG/PG/PG Diploma/ Diploma / certificate courses).
