RESEARCH HIGHLIGHTS:
Department of Special Assistance:
The Department of Tamil was recognized by the University Grants Commission as an 'Identified Department’ since 1971 and continued for ten years. It has been upgraded by the UGC as the Department for Special Assistance (DSA) in the year 1988. The Department has got the Special Assistance upto 1999.
In 2007 School of Tamil Department was recognized again by the UGC as Special Assistance Programme UGC –DRS (SAP-III) for the years 2007-2012 and sanctioned Rs.13,80,811 during I Phase period. Three Projects were submitted under this programme. In the month of March 2012 Phase I was completed and the University Grants Commission has also renowned for the Phase II DRS – SAP(III) program for the years 2013 to 2018 and sanctioned Rs. 60,00,000/-(Sixty Lakhs only) for the Phase II Programme. We have received Rs. 7, 40,000/- for the year 2014 – 15 and submitted Utilization Certificate to the UGC and Now we have received the Sanctioned order for the grant of Rs. 7, 40,000/- from the UGC for the academic year 2017 – 2018.

1. 'Dictionary for school going students upto + 2 Level' - 2009-2010
2. Citrilakkiyam – 2010-2011
3. Anthropological Bi-lingual Dictionary - 2011-2012.

1. Anthropological Approaches to Tholkappiyam and Sangam Literature(2014 – 2015)
2. Anthropological Approaches to Ethic Literature - Ongoing (2017 – 2018)
RESEARCH FACILITIES:
1. Computer with Internet facilities available
2. Attending SLET/NET Exams by the PG and M.Phil. Students and getting Research Fellowship from UGC
3. Avvai Shanmugam Library and DRS Library facility
4. Presenting Research Papers in the National and International Seminars & Conferences
5. Conducting Research Scholars Association Seminar every year and Publishing Research Volumes
