Brief Profile of the Department

The Department of Library and Information Science was established in 1972 and offered one year B.L.I.Sc. and M.L.I.Sc. Programmes. From 2017 it is offering two years integrated M.Lib.I.Sc Programmes under CBCS. This department has started M.Phil Programme in Library and Information Science from 2013. Now it is functioning with one Associate Professor & Head, two Assistant Professors, 15 M.Lib.I.Sc Students, 4 M.Phil. Scholars and 19 Part –Time and 5 Full –Time Ph.D Research Scholars. Out of 5 Full –Time Research Scholars, 2 Ph.D. Scholars are funded with UGC (RGNF) Fellowships. The Students of the Department are getting 90% placement for every year in various institutions. From 2017-2018 lateral entry admission for M.Lib.I.Sc has been implemented.
