Department of Environmental studies
   The Department of Environmental studies offers M.Sc., and M.Phil in Environmental sciences. Which is interdisciplinary in nature. The Department specializes in Biodiversity, Enzymology, Pesticide Toxicology, Probiotic activity apart from doing research on bio-fuel production, especially bio hydrogen production studies. It also extends its research on the Immuno Profiling of Tribes of Kumily Hills, Kerala
Department of Solar Energy
   The Department of Solar Energy is focusing mainly on the Study of Solar Photovoltaic Cell materials. The best of alternative renewable energy is conversion of sunlight into electricity using Solar Cells. Since the efficiency of the Solar Cells like silicon cells is low, finding new materials is the need of the day. Extensive Research on Solar cell material is carried out by the members of the Department of Solar Energy.
Department of Bio-Energy
   The Department of Bio-Energy came into existence with in inception of research programmes at doctoral and post doctoral level. The department currently has two dedicated faculty members working both in teaching and research with specialization of Biodiversity, Bio energy, Rare & endangered species conservation, Air pollution, Climate change and Interdisciplinary research. The department has an individual centre for biodiversity and forest studies to conserve the medicinal plants and endangered flora and fauna.
Department of Marine and Coastal Studies
   After obtaining 7 acres of coastal land, free of cost this Department of Marine and Coastal Studies was established at Pudumadam in Ramnad District, with the grants worth Rs. 2 crore received from the ministry of the Earth Sciences. The Department runs three UGC sponsored Innovative programme(s): namely 1) M.Sc. Sub-Agua Marine Ecology 2) P.G Diploma in SCUBA Diving for Marine Biotechnology and 3) M.Phil in Marine Environmental Science course at the Department of Marine and Coastal Studies at Pudumadam in Ramnad District.
Department of Natural Resources and Waste Recycling
   Started in sixth plan period . The Department is supported by UGC, New Delhi and Tamil Nadu Govt. to carry out teaching , research and extension activities on socially relevant and emerging areas. The School of Energy offered M.Sc. and M. Phil in Energy Sciences till 2006.Now the School offers M.Sc. and M.Phil in Environmental Sciences which is interdisciplinary in nature. Presently, the department is involved in research related to waste water aquaculture and utilization of coir pith as soil less medium. It has also fabricated a medical waste incinerator working in LPG fuel with high running temperature. At present, active research is going on in bio-fuel production especially bio-diesel and bio-hydrogen production studies.
