Profile of the School
School of Education
It comprises two Departments, viz. Education and Physical Education. The department of Education Established in 1976 and that of Physical Education along with the University itself. The School was established in November 2002.
Department of Education
Department of Education Established in 1976 became a part of the School in November 2002. It had been offering Part-time M.Ed. and Full Time M.Phil in Advanced Education as well as Inter-disciplinary. Two year integrated M.Ed. Tech. programme was executed from 1989 to 2007 and got approved by Tamil Nadu Government, NCVTE and UGC. Now, the department offers M.Ed. and Ph.D in Education as well as Interdisciplinary (part time and full time) and proposed to offer M.Phil (full time / part time). The department has the unique credit of having nearly 100 psychometric tools. More than 100 instructional video and CAI Packages are also available in the department. The outputs are employed in countries like Maldives, Kenya, Peru, U.K. and Ethiopia besides the University Department, Government and Private colleges of Education, and DIETs across the nation.
Department of Physical Education
The Department of Physical Education came into existence in the year 1968. The Department offered one year M.P.Ed course from 1988 to 2000. A one year M.Phil Programme was conducted in the year 2000 to 2002 as a self financing course. The Department has a coveted indoor stadium for Multi-Purpose Sports activities. Our students have won many laurels at Inter-University and State and National level Tournaments. The Department revived two year M.P.Ed course in the year 2007-2008. M.Phil Degree course is revived from the academic year 2011-2012. At present the Department of Physical Education is offering two year Full-time M.P.Ed and one year M.Phil., programmes, besides Ph.D., in Full-time as well as Part Time.

Our Alumni’s are very helpful in organizing various Inter-Collegiate and Inter-University Sports and Tournaments in our University.
Our Alumni’s working in various schools and colleges are very helpful in providing the suitable facilities and providing the subjects (Players / Students) for our M.P.Ed., and M.Phil. scholars to carry out their project work in a successful manner.
Our Alumni’s are useful for getting employment of our M.Ed., / M.P.Ed., and M.Phil., students, as Teachers at various schools and colleges.
We are making use of their services whenever / wherever we are in need as recourse persons / coaches / managers.

Utilized the Services of Alumni in the National level Seminar and Conference
Utilized their expertise in the Board of studies in Education for framing B.Ed. and M.Ed. syllabus.
Utilized their services to deliver special guest lecturers for the students to encourage their studies and also provide employment avenue opportunities.
