Welcome to University Science Instrumentation Centre(USIC)

           University Science Instrumentation Centre, Madurai Kamaraj University was established by UGC in 1978 to cater to various instrumental needs of academic and research community in the country. The centre was upgraded to an advanced instrumentation centre (Level – III) in 1990. The Centre provides the following facilities for the academic and research community. In addition to various services, to develop man power in Instrumentation, the Centre offers teaching and research programmes in Instrumentation.

  • Analytical services with sophisticated analytical instruments.
  • Design, fabrication, repair, and service of electronic instruments
  • Design, fabrication and repair of glassware and mechanical equipments, accessories, etc
  • Development of manpower in Instrumentation
  • Teaching and research programmes in instrumentation
  • Two year M.Sc (Electronics & Instrumentation)
  • Part time and Full-Time Ph.D. in Instrumentation
  • Services:

                Analytical Services: Two sophisticated analytical instruments, (i) FT-IR Spectrophotometer (Shimadzu, 8400S) and (ii) UV-VIS Spectrophotometer (Shimadzu, UV-1800) are available. PG students, research scholars in university departments, affiliated colleges and other educational institutions use the facilities extensively.

               Electronics, Glassblowing and Workshop Services: The Centre has all kinds of sophisticated test & measuring instruments and expertise to carryout electronics repair and design & fabrication services. Facilities to fabricate glassware equipments and mechanical models, accessories, etc. are also available.

    Teaching:

                The Centre conducts a two-year PG programme, M.Sc. (Electronics & Instrumentation) course since 2002.

    Research:

               The Centre offers Part-Time & Full-Time Ph.D. in Instrumentation program since 2004.
